This is a composite design. The cardinal and blue jay are free
designs offered by a stained glass company. The magnolia flowers are from
a pattern book, and the magnolia leaves are from my mother's yard! So, this is
an original!
Photographing stained glass is an impossible task! The colors of the sheer glasses
are best captured in the center photo because of the light box behind it, but
the frame color is more accurately represented in the photo in the left photograph.
The other photograph is a close-up of details which you can click on for an
enlargement, and once it has loaded click again for an even larger picture.
Still, the gorgeous light green color of the lighter leaves is not accurately
captured in the photo. You have to actually see the Spectrum wispy, sheer glass colors
to appreciate it! And all of the colors are much more vivid than my camera can
capture.
The only white glass in the panel is in the flowers. All of the other pieces
that appear to be white are actually clear glass. This gives the piece a very
breezy, open effect.
Both birds have glass bead eyes and all solder lines on the front were stippled and patinaed black which
gives them a rich jeweled appearance and adds extra sparkle. A short
length of heavy hanging chain is attached for demonstration purposes, but you may wish to add more
(sold separately here or at your hardware store).
The outside diameter of the red oak frame is twenty-one inches.
This panel took this glass artist an entire work week to complete.
